Sandford Gardens, Thames Ditton

Brief

To craft a low-maintenance Mediterranean-inspired garden featuring an enclosed seating area encompassing a spacious pergola capable of accommodating outdoor furniture and a table.

The garden design should skilfully divert attention from the adjacent tennis club situated at the rear of the property, instead drawing focus towards the specimen trees and dining terrace.

Outcome

The rear of the garden now connects seamlessly to a porcelain terrace, serving as the primary base for the slatted pergola. This pergola neatly conceals a shed tucked away at the back, nestled beside a mature poplar tree and an egg chair.

The progression through the garden unfolds with Mediterranean planting and climbing plants that gently soften the boundaries.

Finally, the grey sandstone terrace and contrasting Cotswold gravel complements a substantial olive tree, serving as the main focal point for outdoor dining and entertaining.
